Immerse yourself in the film and let it speak to you!

We were tasked with creating a film using only the visuals and sounds we captured on-site over a period of three days. After that, we had two days to edit the footage into a cohesive film. The twist was that we couldn't plan out a plot beforehand since we weren't given the brief before leaving for the location. Instead, the narrative had to develop naturally as we filmed maintaining a consistent visual style throughout.
This project is a personal journey of self-discovery, where the act of filming becomes a pilgrimage. The goal is to capture the world as seen through the filmmaker's eyes, reflecting on who we are and what we observe. The Location for the shoot was a settlement near Kotdwar, Uttarakhand, surrounded by lush forests and nestled in a valley near a village; Tosrani, Lansdowne. The film was to be shot using only still shots. No voiceovers or background music could be used, but only ambient natural sounds and voices.
Day 1
The first day was spent observing the place, exploring different paths, interacting with the villagers and finding different ideas for the film
Day 2
The second day was spent in the village with the people; talking to them, working with them and observing them from afar.
Day 3
The final day on site included shooting in the valley, along the beautiful river; the weather, greenery, animals and even insects.
Day 4
After collating all the footage, various concepts were thought of; showing parallelism between nature and humans, following the paths of the village, the village through a traveler's shadows, and manyyyy more.
Day 5
The final film showcases the rich village life, revealing the stories & aspirations of its residents. Through glimpses into their homes, work, and relationships, the film celebrates the community.
